Nidhal Newash, LCSW
I have been practicing therapy for over 20 years. I am trauma informed and integrate evidence-based cognitive, behavioral, and motivational techniques into treatment. I believe in the mind-body connection and, depending on your needs, will weave in mindfulness and somatic practices during our work together. I use an affirming lens while tailoring my approach to the holistic needs and pace of each individual.
I have completed training in Internal Family Systems (IFS, levels 1&2) therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I have been trained by Linda Thai in Somatic Embodiment & Regulation Strategies and Deb Dana in Polyvagal Theory, which helps people understand how their nervous system works. I have provided therapy in community mental health, group private practice and most recently, a college counseling setting, allowing for a depth of experience. I have been honored to work with people presenting with a variety of symptoms and all identities. I have specialized in working with anxiety, sexual trauma, women's issues and those who identify as BIPOC and from multiracial backgrounds. I also enjoy working with therapists.
At the age of 12, I knew that I wanted to be a psychotherapist. This deep-rooted passion for providing therapy allows me to feel rejuvenated when working with others. I primarily work from an IFS "parts work" lens and consider myself a guide who can help you find a greater sense of clarity and discover your true Self during our journey together. The clarity gained from this therapeutic experience opens a pathway to make better decisions for yourself and to overcome some of the obstacles that keep showing up. It is my hope that through our work together you will have improved well-being, move into balance, harmony, and the life that one deserves.
In my spare time, I regularly spend time in nature and practice qigong. Qigong is a movement meditation practice.
I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, with a clinical concentration, from Temple University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Earlham College.
I am Level 1 & 2 trained in Holy FireĀ® Reiki, which is a practice that originated in Japan to promote deep relaxation and energy healing.
I offer psychotherapy to clients in Indiana through a HIPAA compliant video platform.
I do not accept insurance.
