Bring balance back into your life.

Nidhal Newash (she/her), LCSW | THERAPIST IN Indiana

About Me

I am a multiracial “third culture kid (TCK)”. In other words, I had the privilege of growing up in the resilient city of Detroit and was immersed in a culture different from my own. My experience created a positive impact during my formative years.

Because of my multiracial identity and multicultural experience, I have not fit into a simple box. I have found myself moving between different groups at different points in my life. My experiences have given me the ability to see the world through different lenses and an insiders perspective to others around me.

Throughout my childhood, I witnessed injustices faced by family and friends. I received an early understanding of challenges faced by those with marginalized identities. As a result, this experience informs my work in recognizing that each person is a part of and affected by a larger system.

I have been practicing therapy for over 20 years. My career has included working in a partial hospital program, a rape crisis center, community mental health and group private practices. I have most recently been working in a college counseling setting for the past 7 years, allowing for a depth of experience.

I consider myself a lifelong learner and am committed to the promotion of anti-racism and believe in liberation for all. You may often find me listening to therapy podcasts, attending trainings or reading books related to the therapy field. I regularly practice grounding techniques such as Qigong, which is a movement meditation, and spend time in nature.

At the age of 12, I knew that I wanted to be a psychotherapist. This deep-rooted passion for providing therapy allows me to feel rejuvenated when working with others.

I am a trauma therapist and integrate evidence-based cognitive, behavioral, and motivational techniques into treatment. I believe in the mind-body connection and, depending on your needs, will weave in mindfulness and somatic practices during our work together. I use an affirming lens while tailoring my approach to the holistic needs and pace of each individual.

People who seek me out often struggle with anxiety, overthinking, guilt, shame, procrastination, worry, avoidance and belonging. Those I work with also may be adjusting to new transitions, such as a move, a new marriage, a divorce or a job. Many of my clients are women, therapists and people from marginalized identities.

My work is primarily grounded through an IFS "parts work" lens. I consider myself a guide who can help you find a greater sense of clarity and discover your true Self during our journey together. The clarity gained from this therapeutic experience opens a pathway to make better decisions for yourself and to overcome some of the obstacles that keep showing up.

I have been described by clients as warm, non-judgmental and one who works to deeply understand them. I am a part of your team and we will work together to empower you to make decisions that are in support of your overall well-being. It is my hope that through our work together you will move into balance, harmony, and the life that you deserve.
